Holiday reads | What I read

During my holiday I read 3 books. I started with the second book of the Harry Potter series, then I read the second book written by Zoë Sugg and I ended with 'Een lege stad' from the dutch writer, Simone van der Vlugt. I'll tell you my thoughts of these books. Click on the book for a link to the publisher or the website from the writer herself.

As long as I can remember I like the Harry Potter books and films. I have read the books many times before in Dutch and have seen the films probably a million times already, and there will be a million more times! I really enjoyed to read the Chamber of Secrets in English this time, manly because I don't see these films as often anymore because we don't have the first two films on DVD yet. I choose to read it in English this time, because I like to know how it is written originally. And also because there is so much more in the book then you see in the movies. Like Peeves the gosth, you'll find him in the books and the games too, but not in the films. So eventhough I already knew the story, I really enjoyed reading is and it was a good clear up. Soon I'll start reading the third book, because I want to read them all again!

On of the things I like to do in my spare time is watching YouTube video's. The people I watch making those video's often have million of subscribers and get changes to do many amazing things, one of them is writing books. This book is written by Zoë Sugg, and it's the second book of the serie and there will be a third book too!

The book is about Penny, a girl dealing with anxiety. She is following her soon to be very very famous singing boyfriend on his tour. What I really like about this book is that it is easy to read but also really carries you away. Zoë is really good in writing about the anxiety, knowing she is dealing with it herself. So I think it is a good way to show people how a person with an anxiety attack is feeling. Safe to say it is a must read for teens and young adults.

The last book I read was a dutch book. It's written by Simone van der Vlugt, who writes historical romans, thrillers and youthbooks. I have read more books from her and they all gave me a inside in the history of the Netherlands.

This specifiek book is about a young women living in Rotterdam, during the second World War. The women, Katja, loses her parents and 2 siblings in the first bombing on Rotterdam. Because of the lose of here parents she and her husband take the other children in their house to take care for and look after and through out the book you get an idea how life has been during that time. You read about the Jews that loose their freedom and are send away, about the man who are forced to work in camps and in Germany, about families that are wripped apart and many more things. It is sad to read that people do this do each other and makes me hope so much that this is not how it'll end now with all those wars and horrible things going on.
