A day in the zoo

Today was really the last day of our holiday, for my other half and me atleast. Because tomorrow he has to work and my work starts again aswell. So to close these weeks of holiday, we decided (or maybe just a bit more of me decided) that we wanted to go to the zoo. No, I was more precisely, I wanted to go to the zoo in Amersfoort. This I wanted because my father and little sister went there when we were in Greece, and they did a little boat trip there and I wanted to do that too! So, this morning the clock ringed at 9.00am and we got out, we got dressed, ate something and brushed our teeth. Then after an hour drive, we were there!

When we walked in, there was a queue for a climbing thing in to a birdcage, so we decided not to do that now. But the next cage had the same thing. This was the cage of the bears. So my boyfriend, who wanted to take the pictures today, walked up and made a picture from above. The only thing was, that if you wanted to get down again, you had to take the slide. So there he went, an adult and a camera down the slide.

Those climbing bits in to cages or little tunnels were in so many places, so I think this zoo is a must go to with young childeren, because it has all little extra adventures for them!

In the zoo you can follow the 'mis niks route' (miss nothing route), and so we did, to make sure we didn't miss a thing! We saw all the animals, and with some we could get really close or even in the cage!

This vulture was standing nothing more than a meter away from us, which was amazing! I've never been so close to one, or three in this case. The other two were walking around and showing of for other people.

They also have pedalo's and you'll float around the monkey island. And I ofcourse wanted to do that, because that was the whole reason I wanted to go to this zoo! So after being in line for quite some time, we got in, and you'll never guess what. Just our pedalo had to be broken. We couldn't steer. Ofcourse they had made sure you just follow the route, but it was hard because we were constanly stuck at the sides. Finally after a long time and a big hold-up, we were back at the beginning. Next adventure, get back to the side when you can't steer. We made it, with the help of a lady working there and a long stick. But this boat trip took a lot of sweat and painful knees!

Now we needed to cool down, so we went for an icecream! We were happy that we could buy them pretty quick because there was a little restaurant nearby. Just a watericecream, because that cools the most. During the day we ate some more things. Some healty, some so unhealthy. Where I tried to eat healty, by taking my own berries with me, I gave up even before eating them, because the muffin in the picture below is mine! Oeps.

An other thing that I really enjoyed, and have never seen before, was the dinowoods. It was a walk where you could see dinos in their original sizes. I think it is an amazing thing to do, because not only kids will like it (because, you know, dinos are just amazing), but also because dinos are ancesters of quite a few animals walking around in the zoo's or in the wild. The way the gave the information about the dinos, was very creative as well. They made big old bones and wrote it on there.

This dino stood there trying to eat some face, but as you can see, our human skulls are quite hard and he already broke and lost some teeth.

The zoo was even better, because it is an treasure for Pokémon Go players like me. So in between all the animals I also catched some Pokémons! Only the Poliwag in the picture below liked it more in the zoo then with me.

After all I can say I have had an amazing day, and when I have kids I absolutly want to come back. Maybe even before that, because I liked the animals, and the way things were done. The details were looked after and the signs around the animal information was simple but enough. The picture below is a little blurry, but it gives an idea of that. You find the name and a painting of that animal in the middle, on top is the situation in the wilderness, on the left is what they eat and on the bottem where you'll find them around te world.

I would like to thank my lovely boyfriend for all the pictures he made (and I will ofcourse tell him that myself aswell) and I hope he wants to go back soon with me!
